1945 Through 1947 Model H Servi-Cycle

The Model H was produced from January of 1945 until September of 1947. As with previous models, Mr. Treen and his Simplex Manufacturing Corporation continued to make modifications and improvements to the Servi-Cycle. Engines on the "H" models have a serial number that begins with "H" followed by the sequential production number.

ENGINE AND DRIVE SYSTEM

The H model was originally designed, as were previous models, without a starting system. Starting was accomplished by pushing the cycle forward while engaging in a choreographed routine involving the clutch, compression release, and throttle, as described in the Owner's Manual. In 1947, a kick starter was introduced as standard equipment, and was also sold as a kit which could be adapted to all previous "H" models. The kit attached to the frame using two U-bolts.
The 1946 model has a tall narrow air cleaner which has a "weather cap" top on it. In 1947, the air cleaner was changed to a short, round oil-bath type, also mounted on the right side of the frame.

CHASSIS

The 1945 "H" is the first model that uses a toe-operated rear brake on the right foot. It is also the first year for the new rounded floor-boards with a non-slip pattern. By 1946, the throttle twist grip has returned to the right side and the compression release is once again on the left twist grip. The kickstand on these models was located rearward of the engine, between the engine and rear wheel, and was typically made out of steel tubing. This stand design continued through 1948.

The H model was one of the most produced models, and many examples survive today. Approximately 15,000 units were produced over the three year period.
